About the position:

As a part of SCA’s efforts to continuously improve clinical quality, the Quality Management department is being restructured and expanded. The new organization, which will be known as Clinical Services, will provide enhanced clinical support services to our surgery centers and surgical hospitals.

This highly visible role will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the Clinical Services department. This role offers the opportunity for a unique individual with creativity and strong business and clinical acumen to make a significant and meaningful impact.  Reporting directly to an Operations Senior Vice President, the Vice President of Clinical Services will be an integral member of the field operations leadership team.

The Vice President of Clinical Services will:

  • Live and lead others to live SCA’s Values
  • Lead the “SCA Way,” which is focused on:
    • the highest standards of integrity in all respects;
    • strategically driving improved and positive Clinical Quality outcomes through Continuous Improvement in all areas of clinical quality for centers and physicians
    • delivering a high performance values-based strategic clinical quality plan to position SCA as partner of choice. 
  • Provide leadership to the Clinical Services team in developing Clinical Quality and Operational strategies to include Accreditation and Survey Readiness; Credentialing and Physician Relations; Clinical Risk Management; and Clinical Education, Training, and e-Learning. 
  • Identify needs regarding clinical and quality programs, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, safety initiatives, achievement of operational goals and objects supporting the mission, vision, and values of SCA. 

Qualifications include:

  • A personal commitment to SCA’s Values and leading in a values-based organization.
  • Self-starter, team player with ability to strategize, develop and execute a project on time and budget with little guidance or support.  Ability/flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines. 
  • Ability to strategize better systems and processes to re-engineer work to advance clinical quality and marketplace competitiveness.  Research, selection and implementation of systems experience required. 
  • Ability to develop partnerships and work well physician groups providing clinical quality data and recommendations to resolve issues and reinforce partnerships; create and provide systems, support and resources to improve and strengthen SCA’s position as partner of choice for surgical care.
  • Broad ASC experience with leadership capabilities to implement processes, resources, and training.
  • Commitment to ensuring that SCA meets or exceeds all external regulatory requirements and is compliant with Medicare Services (CMS), Chapter 13, state regulatory compliance, HEDIS and CAHIPS reporting requirements, AAAHC and CMS surveys.   
  • Licensed Registered Nurse, Masters degree preferred, with at least 10 years management experience in the ASC industry and with ASC operations; experience in managing multiple centers or a group of hospital outpatient centers is preferred. 
  • Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive change in a positive environment; creative and innovative thinker with emotional maturity and sound judgment
  • Superior communication and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to travel a significant amount of time.
