The UCLA Health System has retained Morgan Consulting Resources, Inc., an executive search firm, to conduct the search for the Assistant Director, Contracting for the Faculty Practice Group. The position will be located in Los Angeles, CA and will report to the Director of Managed Care Contracting, UCLA Health System, Meredith Flynn.
About the position:
The Assistant Director, Contracting will have experience managing a staff in hospital and faculty contracting. This candidate, along with staff, will be responsible for managed care contracting for the UCLA Faculty Practice Group and a key member of the Health System’s negotiation team. The candidate will also be responsible for Clinical Services Agreements, and will interface with the Faculty’s Operations staff regarding contract management and operations issues. The successful candidate will have solid understanding of various payment methodologies, contract negotiations and implementation skills, and the claims process for HMO and PPO business lines. The successful candidate will have an interest in helping to create effective authorization and operational procedures, strong communication skills, the ability to work well with all levels and existing relationships with payors in the market. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic and a high level of adaptability are critical. A broad knowledge of how things work in a large, complex organization and the willingness to work collaboratively is a must.
Required Skills:
- Analytical ability and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of southern California managed care marketplace
- Demonstrated advanced managed care contract negotiation skills, preferably within a medical group, or health plan environment
- Knowledge of professional reimbursement mechanisms
- Experience with a health care provider organization
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred, but not required
